DIFFUSER

The fluid flow enters the diffuser after receiving energy and accelerating in the impeller, where part of the kinetic energy of the flow is converted to pressure. The centrifugal compressor diffusers fall into two categories: vanned and vaneless. The vaneless type is usually used in compressors with stable operating conditions, and if it’s required to provide a wide range of performance, vaned diffusers should be used. The accuracy of the aerodynamic design of the diffuser is critical because the first part that begins to stall ,if it is incompatible with the system, would be the diffuser. In this company, the 1D design is performed using in-house numerical codes, and then by using CFD commercial software, full 3D analysis of diffuser is also done. It is worth noting that careful application of the tolerances intended by the designers during the construction phase is essential to achieve optimal efficiency and reduce performance loss; clearly, it requires strict quality control.
