COUPLING

Rotating equipment that utilizes separate driving and driven machines require couplings for transmitting power between the two machines. One of the most common way of categorizing the couplings is to classify them as Rigid Coupling and Flexible Coupling. When two shafts are correctly connected by a rigid coupling, they operate as a single shaft. A rigid coupling does not permit relative motion between the shafts of the driver and driven machines. A flexible coupling is used to connect two axially oriented shafts. Its purpose is to transmit torque or rotary motion without slip and at the same time, compensate for angular, parallel, and axial misalignment. Depending upon the design, they can also provide damping of vibration and torsional changes. In this company, due to the dynamic mechanism of the customer system, the couplings are selected and designed according to API 671& DIN 740 standard requirements.
